KIAC WBB Player of the Week: Tia King (IU East)
FLORENCE, Ky. -- Tia King of IU East tied a career-high and also her own team record with 36 points versus IU South Bend last week to earn KIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week honors for games played Dec. 21-27.
King, a 5-9, sophomore guard from Indianapolis, Ind., had her 36 points come in a 79-75 victory. She made 14 of 27 field goals, highlighted by 7 of 15 form beyond the 3-point arc.
IU East is 7-5 overall and leading the KIAC Colonial Division at 3-0 KIAC. That's with King leading the way with a team-best 20.7 ppg, a figured that ranks second in the conference and seventh in NAIA Division II.
King ranks 22nd in the country in free-throw percentage at .840 and 33rd in the nation with 2.4 made 3-point field goals per game.
King and the Red Wolves are at Taylor (Ind.) Christmas Classic Dec. 30-31 to play No. 20 Huntington (Ind.) and host Taylor (Ind.) for two games.
