Indiana University Southeast senior Jake Simpson was named the KIAC men's basketball player of the week by KIAC officials on Monday, February 2nd. This is his second player of the week award of the season.
Indiana University Southeast finished the week 2-1. For the week, Simpson averaged 27 points, 7.3 rebounds and 5.7 assists. He shot 53.3 percent (24-of-45) from the field and 50 percent (6-of-12) from behind the 3-point line. Simpson recorded 30 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists and an 89-78 loss at Indiana University East. He followed that with 26 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists in a 79-77 win at Point Park University. The senior guard finished the week with 25 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists in a 79-65 win at Carlow University. Simpson leads the KIAC and ranks 3rd in NAIA Division II points per game (24.35).
The Grenadiers are currently 6-14 overall and 3-6 in conference play. They will return to action on February 3rd when they host the University of Rio Grande.
