WVU Tech baseball players compete in Summer Leagues

The WVU Tech baseball team had players participating in various leagues across the nation this summer. A total of nine Golden Bears worked to perfect their game during the off season including four returners and five newcomers.

Senior Dylan Harvey, who played for the West Virginia Miners, was able to break the Prospect League's single season record for stolen bases at 39, ending the season with 41 total. The center fielder was one of three Miners named to the Prospect League postseason all-star game and Harvey was also named a Perfect Game All-American, earning honorable mention accolades.

Returners senior Josh Hudson and junior Austin Southcott pitched for the Covington Lumberjacks this summer. The Lumberjacks finished 18-24 where Southcott (1-4) pitched 44 innings and Hudson (1-2) threw for 41.4 innings. Senior Hugo Rodriguez played in the same league, Valley Baseball League, for the Charles Town Cannons who ended the season 16-26.

Newly added to the Tech roster for the 2016 season, Chris Davidson and Brady Groesbeck played for the San Diego Force while Tanner Levine, Marcus Rodriguez and John Belliveau were with the Long Beach Legends.

Davidson was 3-0 on the mound in the Southern California Collegiate Baseball League; Groesbeck finished with 24 hits and a .308 batting average.

In the ABD Spring League for the Legends, Belliveau (2-2) struck out 19 batters, Levine (3-3) retired 30 players from the mound and Rodriguez finished with a batting average of .308 and 20 hits.
