Anna Kowalska Named Head WVU Tech Volleyball Coach

MONTGOMERY, West Virginia - The WVU Tech athletic department and athletic director Kenneth Howell are pleased to announce the hiring of Anna Kowalska as the college's new head volleyball coach.

"Anna has been an outstanding member of Tech for the last three seasons," said Howell. "After handling spring volleyball, it became evident that the best person for the vacancy was already on our staff. Our student-athletes respond very well to her and she demands the best from them each day."

Kowalska has been a part of the Tech staff since 2013 as the assistant women's basketball coach, assistant to the athletic director and assistant volleyball coach. She takes over the Golden Bear volleyball program this fall while continuing her other duties.

"It is an honor to become the new head coach at WVU Tech, it means a lot to me to be able to coach such a great team," stated Kowalska. "I am looking forward to this season and I will do my best to make this team successful."

Anna brings experience from the DI level after being a graduate assistant coach at Kent State, 2010-13. Her responsibilities for volleyball and basketball included assisting with practice planning, working with camps and community involvement, practicing with the volleyball team and competing in matches during the summer for Kent State.

As a Golden Flash, the Zdunska Wola, Poland native earned many accolades as an athlete including: Academic All-MAC Team (2008 & 2009), All-MAC First Team (2009), All-MAC Third Team (2008), five-time MAC player-of-the-week, the Golden Flash Award (highest team award) and MVP.

Kowalska stated what she hopes to accomplish by being the new head coach.

"Success on and off the court is the main goal for the team," Kowalska said. "I'm hoping to establish a successful environment where players value hard work, dedication and commitment in every aspect of their lives.

She now resides in Montgomery, West Virginia.
