IU Southeast sweeps IU East in KIAC Game of the Week

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – The IU Southeast volleyball team pushed its winning streak to three straight and opened conference play with a 25-19, 25-13, 25-19 win over IU East on Thursday night in the KIAC Game of the Week.

Michala Beasley, Hannah Joly and Monica Loftus each had 10 kills for the Grenadiers. Hannah Barker had 28 assists in the win.

Melissa Bedell, Mallory Livingston and Morgan Steinbrunner each had six kills to lead IU East.

The Grenadiers (4-3, 1-0 KIAC) were in a tight battle in the first set before five-straight Grenadier points put the set out of reach.

The second set was dominated by IU Southeast, who led by as many as 12 points in the set. With the score tied 6-6, IU Southeast went on to score 19 of the next 26 points in the frame.

In the third set, IU Southeast trailed 11-10 before outscoring the Red Wolves 15-9 to end the match.

IU Southeast heads to Georgetown College to face St. Catharine, Georgetown and Montreat College this weekend.
