KIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week Luiz Filho (Rio Grande)
FLORENCE, Ky. – Luiz Filho from the University of Rio Grande earned KIAC Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week honors for his play Sept. 7-13, the conference announced on KIACsports.com.
Filho, a 6-1, senior forward from Sao Paulo, Brazil, scored two goals for the NAIA No.-5-ranked RedStorm (6-0) in a big victory over NAIA No. 2 University of Northwestern Ohio on Saturday.
Filho scored the opening goal at the 16:45 mark and also tacked on another goal at 60:48 to pad the lead to 3-0. Rio Grande built a lead of 4-0 in the game before the Racers scored two goals in the final 13 minutes.
For the year, Filho is tied for the team lead with five goals, and he is second on the team with 10 points. The RedStorm is outscoring its opponents, 29-5, in six games and is averaging nearly five goals per game.
