Point Park beats OCU, 3-1, in KIAC Game of the Week

CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio – Point Park University women's soccer defeated Ohio Christian University, 3-1, in the KIAC Game of the Week on Tuesday evening. The game was featured as the marquee game in the conference for the week by KIACsports.com

Point Park's Leeza Tokarski scored two goals four minutes apart late in the second half to provide the difference for Point Park (3-1-1, 1-0 KIAC). Tokarski also picked up an assist on the Pioneers' first goal of the night. She later provided the game winners in the 82nd and 86th minutes to break a 1-1 tie.

After the teams played to a 0-0 tie at the half, Point Park made the first mark on the scoreboard in the 57th minute with a goal from Erin Gilmartin with the assist coming from Tokarski.

Just 12 minutes later, the Trailblazers (4-2, 1-1 KIAC) responded with a goal of their own from Katelyn Danner off an assist from Lexi Paas. Point Park then jumped ahead, 2-1, with Tokarski's first goal with just eight minutes remaining in the contest. At the 86th minute, Tokarski gave Point Park breathing room with an unassisted goal in the upper right 90.

Ohio Christian coach Jake Warren said after the game, "Disappointing loss tonight, but the girls played their hearts out. There are plenty of positives to take away from today, and we are going to keep getting better."

Tuesday's match was chosen for the KIAC Game of the Week, creating an excitement all over campus. Students gathered before the game with the Student Activities Council, Student Government, and Blue Crew hosting a tailgating party outside of the field.

"The fan support from the parents, students, and other teams on campus made for an exciting game. It was great to see," said Coach Warren.
