FLORENCE, Ky. – Jeremy de Hoog of the University of Rio Grande led the defensive effort for the RedStorm last week and also picked up three assists and was named the KIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday (Sept. 28).

De Hoog is a junior midfielder from Rotterdam, The Netherlands, who was instrumental in No. 1 Rio Grande shutting down the top scoring offense and the top individual scorer in the NAIA in a 3-1 win over No. 6 Lindsey Wilson. De Hoog helped limit the NAIA's leading scorer, LWC's Aleksi Pahkasalo, to just three shots, none of which were on goal.

De Hoog also assisted on the two winning goals in the second half versus Lindsey Wilson. He also had an assist in a 4-0 shutout of Mt. Vernon Nazarene earlier in the week. He has started nine games this year and has six assists.

Rio Grande (10-0) returns to action on Thursday with a home game versus Ohio Christian at 7 p.m. Follow KIAC Men's Soccer online at KIACSports.com and on Twitter @KIACSports
