KIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week -- Callum Cobb (Rio Grande)
FLORENCE, Ky. -- University of Rio Grande defender Callum Cobb played an integral role in the No. 5 RedStorm's 2-0 week and was chosen as the KIAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for games played Aug. 31-Sept. 6, the conference announced on Monday (Sept. 7).
Cobb, a 5-9, junior defender from London, England, was a part of a defense that allowed just eight shots in two games -- victories of 2-1 (OT) over Westmont (Calif.) and 3-1 over No. 8 Vanguard (Calif.) in the NAIA Men's Soccer Game of the Week. Both games were a part of the Rio Grande Soccer Classic.
The defensive unit did not allow a goal to score during the regular course of play as both goals scored against the RedStorm on the week came via penalty kick.
Cobb has started all five games for Rio Grande (5-0) and has three goals and six points on the year. The RedStorm is outscoring its opponents by a score of 25-3 on the year. Rio Grande will be in action again on Saturday versus No. 2 Northwestern Ohio.
