KIAC Women's Soccer Def. Player of the Week -- Erica Roney (Point Park)

FLORENCE, Ky. -- Point Park University senior goalkeeper Erica Roney led the Pioneers to a 2-0 record and earned KIAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honors for games played Aug. 31-Sept. 6, the conference announced on Monday (Sept. 7).

Roney, from Springdale, Pa., played all 180 minutes in goal as Point Park started off the year 2-0 with wins over NCAA Division II Malone, 2-1, and NAIA St. Catharine (Ky.), 1-0.

Roney made 14 saves on the week for an average of 7.0 saves per game. She allowed just an unassisted goal versus Malone but pitched a shutout the rest of the way as the Pioneers put together a comeback win.

Here shutout of St. Catharine over 90 minutes kept Point Park unbeaten in the early going. Roney and the Pioneers return to action Wednesday at NCAA Division II Walsh University.
