KIAC MBB Player of the Week: Blake Walsman (CCU)
FLORENCE, Ky. -- Cincinnati Christian forward Blake Walsman averaged 19.3 points and 8.3 rebounds per game in three Eagles victories last week to earn KIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors for Jan. 4-10.
A 6-7 freshman from Batesville, Ind., Walsman had a big game of 21 points and 10 rebounds on 9 of 11 from the floor in a 99-91 home win over Point Park on Jan. 9. That improved CCU to 12-3 overall and in first place in the KIAC Capital Division at 4-0 KIAC.
Before that, he had 17 points and six rebounds in a 66-65 win over Alice Lloyd. He made 8 of 8 from the foul line in the one-point win. Walsman also totaled 20 points and nine rebounds in an 87-83 win over NCCAA school Bob Jones University. For the week, he shot 74 percent (17 of 23).
For the year, he is averaging a team-high 13.1 ppg to go along with 6.9 rpg and 53 percent field goals. Cincinnati Christian, which is receiving votes in the NAIA Division II Top 25 Poll, returns to action Tuesday, Jan. 12 at home versus Asbury (Ky.) at 8 p.m.
