KIAC MBB Player of the Week: Fousseini Konate (Point Park)
FLORENCE, Ky. -- Point Park University's Fousseini Konate played a key role in the Pioneers going 2-0 in a pair of conference games last week and thus has been named the KIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 18-24.
The 6-5, sophomore forward from Bamako, Mali, averaged a double-double of 15.5 ppg and 10.0 rpg while shooting 68 percent from the field. His career-best game came with 21 points, 11 rebounds and 9 of 12 field goals in the KIAC Game of the Week victory over first-place IU East. That also included a blocked shot in the final seconds to reject the potential tying field goal.
Konate's week started out with 10 points and nine rebounds in 18 minutes of action in a win at Carlow. For the year, he has played in 20 games and started 14 games. He is averaging 7.6 ppg and 5.2 rpg and shooting 53 percent from the floor.
