KIAC MBB Game of the Week: #25 Cincinnati Christian at Asbury (Ky.)

WILMORE, Ky. -- A showdown in the KIAC Capital Division is the KIAC Men's Basketball Game of the Week with No. 25 Cincinnati Christian at Asbury (Ky.) on Saturday, Jan. 30 at 4 p.m.

Cincinnati Christian is 14-1 at home this season with the only loss being 67-65 (OT) to Asbury on Jan. 12. Asbury, which is currently holding the fourth-and-final playoff spot in the division, can go for the season sweep of the first place team on its home floor.

Cincinnati Christian is coming off a 67-60 home win over IU Kokomo on Thursday. Although the Eagles lost at IU East earlier in the week, they are still in first place in the division holding the head-to-head tiebreakover Alice Lloyd (Ky.) (7-2 KIAC). A win would keep the top defensive team in the KIAC (69 ppg) atop the standings.

Asbury won its last game, 77-72, over non-conference Berea (Ky.) on Thursday to get above .500 overall. They have a 2.0 game lead for the final playoff spot and play their next three games on the road.

Asbury has guards Ty Smith and Jordan Gilbert registering double-digits at 10.9 and 10.1 ppg, respectively. Smith is fifth in the conference with 7.7 rpg, and Gilbert has a team-high 37 3-pointers.

CCU counters with forwards Kenny Gaynor (13.0 ppg, 7.0 rpg) and Blake Walsman (12.7 ppg, 6.0 rpg) and point guard D.J. McCommons (10.9 ppg, 29 3-pt FGs).
