KIAC WBB Game of the Week: Alice Lloyd (Ky.) at IU Kokomo

KOKOMO, Ind. -- A key game in the battle for the final playoff spot in the KIAC Capital Division is the KIAC Women's Basketball Game of the Week -- Alice Lloyd (Ky.) at IU Kokomo on Sunday, Jan. 31 at 1 p.m.

Alice Lloyd (8-12, 3-7 KIAC) and IU Kokomo (8-13, 3-7 KIAC) enter the weekend with nearly identical records and are tied for fourth place in the division.

Both teams play on Saturday -- Alice Lloyd at IU Southeast and IU Kokomo home versus Midway -- before they square off in a head-to-head battle that may determine the final playoff qualifier out of the division. IU Kokomo won the earlier meeting this year, 84-58, at Alice Lloyd on Jan. 9.

Alice Lloyd won its last game, 78-77, over Brescia at home on Wednesday and has won four of its last six games. IU Kokomo is trying to break a five-game losing streak, including 54-47 at Cincinnati Christian on Thursday.

Alice Lloyd has a strong post game with 6-1 center Taylor Arthur coming in at 12.4 ppg and 10.8 rpg. Amber Shepherd, a 5-9 forward, is averaging 14.1 ppg.

It is a matchup of the top two rebounders in the conference with ALC's Arthur going up against KIAC leader Dejianna Butler of IU Kokomo, who has 10 double-doubles on the year and averages 12.6 ppg and 10.9 rpg.

Leading a group of four players who score in double figures for the Cougars is guard Deja Felder at 13.1 ppg.

In the team stats, IU Kokomo is third in the KIAC in scoring defense (62.9 ppg) and field-goal percentage offense (.410). Alice Lloyd is third in the conference in field-goal defense (.376).
