KIAC announces new leadership to KIAC Council of Presidents, Executive Committee

FLORENCE, Ky. – As of January 1, 2016, the Kentucky Intercollegiate Athletic Conference has new leadership in the KIAC Council of Presidents and its Executive Committee.

The KIAC welcomes Indiana University Southeast Chancellor Dr. Ray Wallace as the new Chair of the KIAC Council of Presidents. It also announces a new alignment to its four-person KIAC Council of Presidents Executive Committee.

As the KIAC Council of Presidents Chair, Dr. Wallace will serve as the representation for the conference's 13 member schools on the NAIA Council of Presidents. He will also serve as the leader of the KIAC Executive Committee and be the liaison between the KIAC Council of Presidents and the KIAC Board of Athletic Directors.

Dr. Wallace was elected as the KIAC Council of Presidents Chair during the KIAC COP meeting on October 13, 2015.

Dr. Wallace, who has been IU Southeast Chancellor since July 1, 2014, begins a three-year term from Jan. 1, 2016 to Dec. 31, 2018. He replaces Brescia (Ky.) University President Fr. Larry Hostetter, who served the last two terms as KIAC Council of Presidents Chair.

"I am honored to have been elected Chair of this important group in what is one of the most storied athletic conferences in the United States," said Dr. Wallace. "I am humbled to follow in the footsteps of so many renowned past Chairs, most recently of course is the fine work Fr. Larry Hostetter did for the KIAC. He has left big shoes to fill."

Additionally, the KIAC Executive Committee has a new alignment. Dr. Wallace takes over for Fr. Hostetter as the Chair. The new Vice-Chair is Point Park (Pa.) University President Dr. Paul Hennigan, who was elected to the position Oct. 13.

Fr. Hostetter remains on the Executive Committee and in a new role as the Past Chair. IU Kokomo Chancellor Dr. Susan Sciame-Giesecke will remain in her same role as the At-Large member.

"On behalf of the KIAC Athletic Directors and the student-athletes at our 13 member institutions, I want to welcome Dr. Ray Wallace as our new Chair of the KIAC Council of Presidents," said KIAC Commissioner Scott McClure. "Dr. Ray is a former collegiate student-athlete and an enthusiastic administrator and leader at IU Southeast.

"I look forward to working with him, our KIAC Executive Committee and all of our Presidents and Chancellors as we continue to build this conference. I would also like to welcome Point Park University President Dr. Paul Hennigan in his new role as the Vice-Chair of the KIAC Council of Presidents."

Dr. Wallace comes to his post as KIAC COP Chair during an exciting time for the conference. The KIAC has expanded to 13 member institutions and five states during the last year and has also welcomed its first-ever, full-time KIAC Commissioner with McClure's hiring on July 1, 2015.

The KIAC recognizes out-going KIAC COP Chair Fr. Larry Hostetter of Brescia University for his dedicated service the last two terms.

"The entire KIAC administration and our member institutions are grateful to Fr. Larry Hostetter for his many years of service as Chair of the Council of Presidents," said McClure. "Fr. Larry was a stabilizing force for the conference during a period of both challenges and transition. He provided excellent leadership in working with the conference administration and representing the KIAC as a member of the NAIA Council of Presidents. He will continue to provide that leadership and mentorship as the Past Chair of the KIAC-COP in his role on the conference Executive Committee."
