Point Park's Hilverding picks up RSC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week
FLORENCE, Ky. -- Point Park University's Sean Hilverding picked up River States Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week Oct. 3-9 after placing in the Top 25 at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational.
Hilverding, a sophomore from Spraggs, Pa., was 25th overall of 86 runners with a time of 28:35 in the 8K-race. Times were slowed with muddy conditions, but he was able to register as one of only five runners in the Top 25 not from Duquesne or team champ CMU.
Hilverding's performance led Point Park to fifth place in the team standings, and the Pioneers were just five points out of third place. It is ths second time this year that he has claimed the runner of the week honor.
Point Park's next competition is scheduled for Oct. 21 at the Lebanon Valley Last Chance Run Fast Invitational.
