Rio Grande's Briley nets RSC Volleyball Setter of the Week award
FLORENCE, Ky. -- University of Rio Grande setter Kayla Briley had another strong, all-around week to earn River States Conference Volleyball Setter of the Week for Oct. 3-9.
Briley, a 6-0 senior from Marion, Ohio, led Rio Grande to a 4-0 week by tallying 9.63 assists, 1.94 digs and 1.31 kills per set in four matches. She totaled 154 assists, 31 digs, 21 kills and 15.0 blocks while hitting .327.
The biggest performance included 52 assists, 12 kills, nine digs and 5.0 blocks in a five-set win over Mt. Vernon Nazarene. She also had 37 assists, 11 digs and 5.0 blocks in a big win over Point Park (Pa.).
Briley now leads the RedStorm with 198 kills and 520 assists as a setter and attacker in a 6-2 system. She is second on the team with 188 digs and 27.0 blocks. Rio Grande is 13-10, 3-3 RSC and returns to action Oct. 11 at Carlow (Pa.).
