Rio Grande's Hanzel claims RSC Volleyball Attacker of the Week honor
FLORENCE, Ky. -- University of Rio Grande outside hitter Marley Hanzel claimed River States Conference Volleyball Attacker of the Week for her play Oct. 3-9.
The 6-1 native of Wheelersburg, Ohio, led the attack in a 4-0 week for Rio Grande. She averaged over 10 kills per match and hit .294 for the week.
Hanzel picked up 13 kills in a big win over Mt. Vernon Nazarene and also notched double-digit kills with 11 versus Carlow and 10 in another big win over division leader Point Park (Pa.). She started the week with eight kills versus WVU Tech.
Hanzel also added six digs and five blocks on the week.For the year, she has 159 kills and 27.0 blocks in 23 matches. Rio Grande is 13-10, 3-3 RSC and returns to action on Oct. 11 at Carlow (Pa.).
