OCU tops Asbury in #RSCgotw Women's Soccer, remains unbeaten in RSC

GROVE CITY, Ohio -- Ohio Christian University remained unbeaten in conference play with its 2-1 win over visiting Asbury (Ky.) University in the River States Conference Women's Soccer Game of the Week on Saturday night.
Ohio Christian (8-5-2, 5-0-1 RSC) built a 2-0 lead over Asbury (9-5-1, 4-2 RSC) in the important game between two of the top teams in the conference. OCU remained in first place in the RSC with the win and holds a 1.5 game lead over the rest of the conference with two games to go. Asbury dropped to third place with the loss.
Lexi Paas gave OCU a 1-0 lead over Asbury when she scored at 29:09 of the first half. Brooke Wilhite assisted on the play, the first of her two assists on the night.
It was a matchup of the top two defensive teams in the conference each giving up a goal or less per game coming into Saturday's contest. The 1-0 lead for OCU extended to 2-0 when Haylee Francis found the back of the net in the 59th minute.
Down 2-0, Asbury battled back to cut the lead in half with Emily Hubbuch's goal in the 67th minute. But score remained there until the end. OCU held a 12-8 advantage in shots, which included 10-4 the first half.
Ohio Christian has now won four in a row and finishes up its conference schedule Oct. 27 at Midway (Ky.) and Oct. 29 at Brescia (Ky.). Asbury had its five-game win streak stopped and finishes up RSC play at home Oct. 27 and 29 versus WVU Tech and Rio Grande.
