FLORENCE, Ky. -- Kameron Carpenter of the University of Rio Grande claimed River States Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week honors with his performance Oct. 1

Carpenter, a sophomore from Newark, Ohio, had a time of 26 minutes, 30 seconds at the All-Ohio Championships. That time placed 60th out of 287 runners at the meet and 19th among the 109 NAIA and NCAA DII runners.

The meet included runners from nearly every school in Ohio including NCAA Division I schools Ohio State, Cincinnati, Xavier and Miami. Carpenter's time is now the fastest 8K time in the RSC this year.

Rio Grande next competes Oct. 14 at the Jenna Strong Classic in Wilmington, Ohio.
