Asbury's Butler tabbed RSC Volleyball Defender of the Week Oct. 24-30
FLORENCE, Ky. -- Asbury (Ky.) University libero Carly Butler had a huge week on defense to pick up River States Conference Volleyball Defender of the Week for Oct. 24-30.
Butler, a 5-4 senior from Maineville, Ohio, averaged 5.64 digs per set in four matches on the week and led Asbury to a 2-0 showing in conference play. She totaled 79 digs in the four matches, and the Eagles extended their conference win streak to eight RSC matches in a row.
Butler had 31 digs in a 3-2 win at Rio Grande to cap off the week and put Asbury (13-14, 10-3 RSC) in a tie for the lead in the RSC West Division. She also had 11 digs in a 3-0 win over WVU Tech.
Butler picked up 21 and 13 digs, respectively, in non-conference losses to Kentucky State and NAIA No. 5 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.).
Butler ranks third in the conference with 4.8 digs per set and seventh with 459 total digs. Asbury plays its next match Nov. 1 at Midway (Ky.).
