Point Park wins RSC Women's Soccer Tournament Championship 2-0 over OCU

GROVE CITY, Ohio – Point Park (Pa.) University claimed the River States Conference Women's Soccer Tournament championship and punched a ticket to the NAIA National Championship Opening Round after a 2-0 win over Ohio Christian University in the finals on Saturday night.
Point Park (10-7-2, 6-2 RSC) scored two goals in the final 20 minutes of regulation to claim the conference title for the second year in a row. The Pioneers will play in the NAIA Opening Round, which is Nov. 19 at campus sites around the country.
During the regular season, Ohio Christian (11-6-2, 7-0-1 RSC) beat the Point Park, 2-1, on the road. In the finals, the road team won once again.
Ohio Christian won the RSC regular season championship going undefeated in conference action and giving up just 16 goals in 18 regular-season games as the top-ranked defense in the conference.
Defense was a big part of the championship game as the score was 0-0 heading into halftime. Point Park struck first in the 72nd minute on a goal by Izzy Hunter, her seventh of the season.
The Pioneers' defense kept the Trailblazers off the board to protect the lead the rest of the way. Point Park freshman Nikki Polens sealed the deal with a goal at 89:31 to make the final score 2-0.
Point Park goalkeeper Rebecca Cohen recorded her sixth shutout on the season and made three saves. OCU keeper Mekayla Deffenbaugh made three saves. The Pioneers out-shot Ohio Christian, 15-6.
