Furlow nabs RSC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for #9 IU East
FLORENCE, Ky. -- Junior guard Jordan Furlow led NAIA Division II No. 9-ranked IU East to three victories last week to earn River States Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Nov. 7-13, the first award of the men's basketball season.
Furlow is a 6-2 guard from Elkhart, Ind., and a transfer from Midland (Neb.). He averaged 14.7 points per game, shot 43 percent from the field and 46 percent from 3-point range on the week. He was also 9 for 12 from the free-throw line.
A highlight of the week was 22 points, five rebounds, three asists and five steals in a 91-81 win over Shawnee State. He also had a big game of 18 points, four assists and two steals in an 80-76 win over Mt. Vernon Nazarene. He hit a big 3-pointer with a minute to go to keep IU East undefeated at 6-0.
Furlow has started five of six games for the Red Wolves and is second on the team at 12.0 ppg. He is also averaging 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game.
IU East (6-0, 1-0 RSC) plays No. 2 Indiana Wesleyan on Tuesday, Nov. 15, the defending national champion and a fellow NAIA Division II national tournament Fab Four team from a year ago.
