All-River States Conference Women's Soccer Teams & Individual Awards selected
FLORENCE, Ky. -- The 2016 All-River States Conference Women's Soccer Teams & Individual Awards were announced by the league office on Friday (Nov. 4) after voting from the nine RSC women's soccer head coaches was conducted this week.
The All-RSC Women's Soccer First Team included 14 players with two goalkeepers, four defenders, four midfielders and four forwards. The All-RSC Second Team included 15 players with an extra forward included.
Ohio Christian, the RSC regular season champion, led the All-RSC First Team with four selections and took home three of the big individual awards. The Trailblazers also had two players named to the All-RSC Second Team to lead the RSC in overall all-conference selections with six.
Ohio Christian coach Jake Warren is the RSC Women's Soccer Coach of the Year after leading the Trailblazers to a record of 10-5-2 overall, 7-0-1 RSC. Ohio Christian is tied for the RSC lead in overall wins with 10 and went unbeaten in its eight conference games.
Emily Hubbuch of Asbury (Ky.) University is the RSC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Year. The sophomore forward from Shepherdsville, Ky., was second in the conference with 1.81 points per game, second with 29 points and second with 14 goals. She scored seven goals in RSC games to tie for first in the conference.
Alyssa Capon of WVU Tech is the RSC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Year. The senior defender from Ottawa, Ontario, started 16 games for the Golden Bears and led them to 1.47 goals against per game to rank fourth in the conference.
Lexi Paas of Ohio Christian is the RSC Women's Soccer Player of the Year. The senior forward from Grove City, Ohio, tied for third in the conference with 25 points and 10 goals. She scored seven goals in the conference games to tie for the RSC lead.
Rachel Lawwell of Ohio Christian is the RSC Women's Soccer Newcomer of the Year. The freshman defender from Pataskala, Ohio, started 13 games for the Trailblazers and led them to ranking first in the RSC with 0.94 goals against per game with 16 in 17 games.
The River States Conference Women's Soccer Champions of Character Team was also named with one player from each team chosen who best represents the five core character values of the NAIA's Champions of Character program, which are: respect, responsibility, intergrity, servant leadership and sportsmanship.
