No. 17 IU East's King claims RSC Women's Basketball Player of the Week Dec. 5-11

FLORENCE, Ky. -- No. 17 IU East had junior guard Tia King average 29.0 points in two games to pick up River States Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 5-11.

King, a 5-9 native of Indianapolis, Ind,, scored 29 points in a victory over Roosevelt, 78-65, and also had 29 points in a win over Taylor, 93-82. The wins improved IU East to 8-3 on the year.

King hit for 57 percent from the field (21 for 37) and 56 percent from 3-point range (10 for 18) on the week. She made seven treys in the win over Roosevelt and three more versus Taylor. She was 6 for 6 from the foul line in the two games.

A highlight of King's week was scoring 14 points in a two-minute stretch of the victory over Roosevelt. For the year, she is averaging 18.8 ppg and shooting 42 percent from long range.

IU East (8-3, 1-0 RSC) has its next game Dec. 13 at home versus Rio Grande.
