#10 IU East's Furlow notches RSC MBB Player of the Week in win over #2 USF
FLORENCE, Ky. -- Junior guard Jordan Furlow had a big game to lead No. 10 IU East to a win over No. 2 University of St. Francis (Ind.) on Dec. 22 and thus was named River States Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Dec. 19-25.
Furlow, a 6-2 native of Elkhart, Ind., scored a game-high 23 points in the 89-85 win over No. 2 St. Francis (Ind.). The game was played at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, home of the NBA's Indiana Pacers.
Furlow shined on the big stage hitting 7 of 10 field goals and 8 of 9 free throws. He made several big baskets and foul shots to answer each time USF cut into the lead. IU East led by as many as 17 in the first half, and Furlow's play helped hold off the Cougars when they cut the lead to one possession on seven occassions in the second half.
The victory improved IU East's record to 12-4, and the Red Wolves are 3-1 RSC. Furlow is leading IU East's active players at 12.6 ppg, and he is shooting 48 percent from the field. IU East plays at No. 17 Washington Adventist Dec. 29.
