IU East's Campbell picks up RSC Women's Basketball Player of the Week award

FLORENCE, Ky. -- IU East sophomore Mackenzie Campbell averaged more than 20 points per game in three games last week and thus picked up River States Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Nov. 28-Dec. 5.

A 5-8 guard-forward from Rushville, Ind., Campbell put up 21.3 ppg, shot 61 percent from the floor, 40 percent from 3-point range and 89 percent from the foul line in a 2-1 week for the No. 17 Red Wolves.

Campbell's highest output was 25 points, five rebounds, four assists and 9 of 14 field goals in an 87-78 win at Simpson (Calif.). She also had 20 points in a loss at No. 20 Oregon Tech earlier in the week.

She capped off the week with 19 points on 8 for 12 from the field in a conference win over Ohio Christian, 95-64. For the week, Campbell was 4 for 10 from outside the arc and 16 for 18 on free throws.

For the year, Campbell is averaging 11.7 ppg to rank third on the IU East team. The Red Wolves (6-3, 1-0 RSC) return to action Wednesday at home versus Roosevelt (Ill.)
