#RSCgotw Women's Basketball: Brescia at Alice Lloyd -- Dec. 10 at 1 p.m. ET
PIPPA PASSES, Ky. -- Week 2 of the River States Conference Women's Basketball Game of the Week has two teams battling in the RSC West Division when Brescia University visits Alice Lloyd College on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 1 p.m. ET.
Although its a matchup of teams that are currently at the bottom of the standings in the RSC West Division, it will be a highly constested game with both the Bearcats and Eagles looking for their first conference victories. In a competitive division, neither team wants to fall any further behind in the race.
Alice Lloyd is 4-3 overall, 0-2 RSC and plays its first conference home games. The Eagles have played five of their first seven games away from home including RSC losses at Cincinnati Christian and at IU Kokomo to begin conference play.
Alice Lloyd has three players averaging in double figures. Miranda Wilson (12.9 ppg) and Kayla Wilson (12.6 ppg) lead the way followed by Amber Shepherd (10.1 ppg). The Eagles rank in the top 20 in the NAIA Division II in two categories related to shooting. They are eighth nationally with 9.14 made 3-point field goals per game and 19th in free-throw shooting at 73.6 percent.
Brescia (1-10, 0-3 RSC) has also played a road-heavy schedule, and its weekend road trip continues Saturday at Alice Lloyd. Brescia is coming off a loss Thursday night at Asbury and visits No. 24 Pikeville on Sunday. The Bearcats rank 20th in the nation in made 3-pointers with 90 and 3-point field goal accuracy at 35.2 percent.
Shelby Samsil (13.8 ppg) leads the Brescia attack mainly from the outside, where she has made 46 treys and 39.7 percent from beyond the arc. Kelsey Kirkpatrick (13.2 ppg) gives the Bearcats two players in double figures and another outside threat with 34 treys on the year.
