KIAC WBB Player of the Week: Julie Whitfill (Brescia)
FLORENCE, Ky. -- The fourth-leading scorer in NAIA Division II is this week's KIAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for Feb. 1-7 as Brescia (Ky.) University's Julie Whitfill has earned the honors once again.
The 5-8, senior guard from Brekenridge, Ky., averaged 29.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game while shooting 67 percent from the field and 61 percent from 3-point range last week. Brescia went 2-0 on the week and improved to 15-12 overall, 10-4 KIAC for second place in the KIAC Capital Division.
Whitfill, who leads the KIAC and is fourth nationally with 21.3 ppg, scored 32 points on 11-for-14 shooting and 6-for-9 from 3-point range in a 103-58 victory over Cincinnati Christian. She also had 27 points and 10 rebounds in a 70-58 win over IU Southeast. That game featured 11 of 19 from the floor and 5 for 9 from long range.
Whitfill is first in the NAIA DII in total scoring (574 points), third in free-throw percentage (.895), fourth in scoring (21.3 ppg) and fourth in total 3-pointers made (90).
