KIAC Baseball Player of the Week: Kyle Asher (IU Southeast)
FLORENCE, Ky. -- IU Southeast first baseman Kyle Asher had a huge week at the plate to earn KIAC Baseball Player of the Week honors for March 21-27.
The 6-0 senior from Louisville, Ky., batted .579, slugged .947, smashed four doubles, one homer and collected 10 RBIs in five games. IU Southeast went 4-1 on the week with a sweep of Rio Grande in the KIAC Baseball Games of the Week.
He started the Rio Grande series going 4 for 5 with two doubles and six RBIs in a 10-8 win. The final game of the series was also a highlight as he went 2 for 4 with a double, a homer and four RBIs.
Asher hit safely in all five games on the week, and four of them were multi-hit games. For the year, the Grenadiers' cleanup hitter is batting .329 with eight doubles, a homer and is tied for the team lead with 21 RBIs.
