POINT LOOKOUT, Mo. -- Cincinnati Christian University and Indiana University East will represent the KIAC at the NAIA Division II Men's Basketball National Championship this week in Point Lookout, Mo., on the campus of the College of the Ozarks. The 32-team national tournament begins on Wednesday, March 9 with the first eight games of the first round.
Both KIAC teams have drawn No. 7 seeds in the bracket and both are currently "receiving votes" in the NAIA Division II Top 25 Poll. CCU opens up play on March 9, and IU East plays its first game March 10.
Cincinnati Christian (23-8) is back in the national tournament for the second time in three years. The Eagles won their second KIAC Tournament title since 2014 with a victory over Alice Lloyd (Ky.) in the finals March 1.
Cincinnati Christian has drawn defending national champion Cornerstone (Mich.), a No. 2 seed, in the first round. Cornerstone is 26-6 overall and is the runner up from the WHAC Tournament having lost to Davenport, one of the four No. 1 seeds. Cornerstone is ranked eighth in the Top 25 Poll.
The matchup of Eagles will be March 9 at 12 p.m. CT in the first round.
IU East (19-13), which is in the national tournament in back-to-back years, secured its NAIA bid by having the best conference record in the KIAC this year. The Red Wolves were 12-4 KIAC to win the KIAC Colonial Division.
IU East is matched up against No. 2 seed Tabor (Kan.), which is 30-3 overall and comes in as the champions of the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference. Tabor is ranked No. 6 in the final Top 25 Poll.
The Red Wolves tipoff versus Tabor on March 10 at 12 p.m. ET in the round of 32.
