GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- The KIAC Men's Golf Tournament is set for this weekend, Friday-Saturday, April 15-16 at Cherry Blossom Golf Club in Georgetown, Ky.
The nine-team, 54-hole tournament gets underway with tee times beginning Friday at 7:00 a.m. The team champion and individual medalist qualify for the NAIA Men's Golf National Championship May 24-27 at TPC Deere Run in Moline, Ill.
The KIAC championship returns to the site of the 36-hole KIAC Fall Preview Tournament held at the same venue Oct. 2-3, 2015. Asbury (Ky.) University won the preview by nine shots with rounds of 309 and 310.
WVU Tech shot a final-round 306 -- the lowest round of the tournament -- but finished second after opening up with a 322. Point Park finished third with rounds of 323 and 309.
The fall preview had Cincinnati Christian (324-309) place fourth, Brescia (322-313) in fifth and IU East (333-328) sixth. Alice Lloyd (336-327), IU Kokomo (337-329) and Ohio Christian (342-356) were next.
Point Park is the three-time defending KIAC Tournament champion. The Pioneers return one player from last year's win, sophomore Max Kaminsky.
Each team will enter five players in the tournament, and the best four scores will be counted toward the team total.
Cherry Blossom Golf Club is a par-72, 6,842-yard layout. It is located at 150 Clubhouse Drive, Georgetown, Ky. 40324.
The tournament begins Friday with 36 holes starting at 7:00 a.m.The final 18 holes will be Saturday with pairings and tee times determined by the 36-hole leaderboard.
