KIAC Softball Games of the Week: WVU Tech at IU Southeast

NEW ALBANY, Ind. – IU Southeast hosts WVU Tech in the KIAC Softball Games of the Week on Friday, April 15 at 3 p.m.

The Grenadiers (26-13, 11-1 KIAC) are one of the front runners in the KIAC and currently stand in second place, 1.0 game behind Rio Grande (13-1 KIAC). The Grenadiers and RedStorm are both "receiving votes" in the NAIA Softball Top 25 Poll.

WVU Tech (15-22, 4-4 KIAC) is new to the KIAC this year and looking to make its mark. The Golden Bears are in fourth place in the KIAC standings.

The winner of Friday's doubleheader may be the one that slugs its way to victory. IU Southeast hits .322 as a team, and WVU Tech hits .318, ranking second and third in the KIAC.

IU Southeast third baseman Sydney Seger leads the team in hitting at .431 with three home runs and 27 RBIs. Hannah Veit is another big bat coming in with a .413 average, three homers and 23 RBIs.

WVU Tech has right fielder Megan Blythe hitting .412 with five homers and 23 RBIs. First baseman Genna Trippett is the KIAC home run leader with 11 and also hits .388 with 37 RBIs.

Top pitchers for each team have Emily Weiss (14-5, 1.83 ERA) for IU Southeast and Mackenzie Wilson (6-7, 3.42 ERA) for WVU Tech.

IU Southeast has won eighth straight conference games and has its only loss versus Rio Grande in a split doubleheader. WVU Tech won its last two KIAC games at Cincinnati Christian to pull even in conference play.
