KIAC Softball Player of the Week: Cheyenne Hamaker (Rio Grande)
FLORENCE, Ky. -- University of Rio Grande shortstop Cheyenne Hamaker hit .471 and slugged .706 in six games last week to earn KIAC Softball Player of the Week accolades for April 11-17.
Hamaker, a junior from Hilliard, Ohio, was 8 for 17 at the plate and had a hit in five of the six games. She posted four doubles, seven RBIs and was 3 for 4 in stolen bases.
A highlight of the week was going 3 for 3 with two doubles and four RBIs in a 7-3 win over Kentucky Christian. Another highlight was going 2 for 3 with a double and a stolen base in an 11-0 win over Cincinnati Christian.
Hamaker also collected a couple of hits in a doubleheader sweep of Shawnee State. For the year, she is hitting .330 with 22 RBIs.
Rio Grande (32-7, 15-1 KIAC) is receiving votes in the NAIA Softball Top 25 Poll and leads the KIAC standings. The RedStorm visit WVU Tech April 22 of its next games.
