KIAC Softball Games of the Week: CCU at Asbury

WILMORE, Ky. -- Asbury (Ky.) University hosts Cincinnati Christian University in a battle for playoff positioning and the KIAC Softball Games of the Week on Saturday at 1 p.m. (DH).

It's Senior Day for Asbury (15-26, 5-9 KIAC), which currently holds the sixth playoff spot entering the matchup.

Cincinnati Christian (8-23, 3-11 KIAC) enters the day in the eighth-and-final playoff spot on the last weekend of the regular season.

The teams -- which are both nicknamed the Eagles -- will meet with a similar goal of trying to stay out of the last couple of playoff spots and avoid a top seed in the first round of the KIAC Tournament next weekend, April 29-30 in Owensboro, Ky.

Asbury is coming off two KIAC wins over Midway last weekend, which improved its standing in the conference.

Cincinnati Christian lost its last two conference games versus Carlow but is still within striking distance of moving up a spot of two.

A key matchup will be CCU's Blair Bailey, the third-leading hitter in the KIAC at .434, versus Asbury pitcher Summer Ratliff, who has logged 186 innings pitched to lead the conference.

The top hitter for Asbury is Kateland Hunter at .347 with six homers and 28 RBIs. CCU's pitching has Kaila Sturgell leading the team with a 4.69 ERA and Courtney Garrett (6.18 ERA) with a team-high 90.2 innings pitched.
