OWENSBORO, Ky. -- The 2016 KIAC Softball Tournament will be held this weekend, Friday-Saturday, April 29-30 at Panther Creek Park in Owensboro, Ky. The champion will advance to the NAIA Softball National Championship Opening Round with an automatic bid.

The eight-team, double-elimination tournament gets underway Friday, April 29 with the first games at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. CT. There are a total of 10 games scheduled for Friday. Play continues on Saturday for the four teams remaining beginning at 10 a.m. CT.

The tournament bracket is available at the link above. The KIAC Game Central presented by Stretch Internet plans live video for all games. Live stats via Dakstats is scheduled as well.

Panther Creek Park is located at 5160 Wayne Bridge Road, Owensboro, Ky. Admission price is $7.00 per person for the individual day pass. That admits fans to all games in a given day with a wristband. All times listed in this story and in the bracket are Central Time.

All games will be streamed live on the KIAC Game Central presented by Stretch Internet. No. 1 seed Rio Grande (36-7, 17-1 KIAC) has already guaranteed an automatic bid to the NAIA national tournament as the KIAC regular season champion. The RedStorm begin play on Friday at 10 a.m. versus No. 8 seed Brescia (Ky.) (9-21, 4-12 KIAC).

The other game at 10 a.m. Friday features No. 4 seed Carlow (Pa.) (22-10, 10-8 KIAC) versus No. 5 WVU Tech (20-27, 9-9 KIAC).

Play continues with two games at 12 p.m. pitting No. 2 seed IU Southeast (30-15, 15-3 KIAC) versus No. 7 Cincinnati Christian (10-25, 5-13 KIAC) and No. 3 seed Point Park (Pa.) (21-17, 14-4 KIAC) versus No. 6 Asbury (Ky.) (17-26, 7-9 KIAC).

The loser's bracket begins at 2:30 p.m. for the first elimination games. First-round winners advance in the winner's bracket to play at 4:30 p.m. The final games of the day feature a pair of games at 6:30 p.m. for those teams that survive the elimination games at 2:30.

Day two of the tournament begins at 10 a.m. with the winner's bracket final and the loser's bracket semifinal. The loser's bracket final is set for 12 p.m. The championship round begins at 3 p.m. with second championship game if necessary at 5 p.m.
