KIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week: Jenna Jones (Rio Grande)
FLORENCE, Ky. -- University of Rio Grande pitcher Jenna Jones was 3-0 with an 0.00 ERA in three games last week and has earned KIAC Softball Pitcher of the Week accolades for March 28-April 3.
Jones is a junior from Lancaster, Ohio, who started three games, struck out 12 and walked two in her 18 innings of work. She allowed only seven hits during that span and did not give up any earned runs.
Jones went 3-0, and Rio Grande went 6-0 on the week to improve to 22-6, 9-1 KIAC. She shutout Kentucky Christian, 2-0, on two hits. She got the win in four innings of a run-shortened game versus Midway and again gave up just two hits. Finally, she beat Asbury, 8-2, and yielded only three hits and a couple of unearned runs in seven innings.
Jones is 10-0 with a 1.39 ERA, both of which lead the KIAC. She is 23rd in the NAIA in ERA and has pitched 70.1 innings.
