No. 19 IU Southeast takes on Lindsey Wilson in NAIA Baseball Opening Rd

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 19-ranked IU Southeast baseball team will start NAIA Opening Round play against a familiar foe, Lindsey Wilson College at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The Grenadiers (42-13) took both regular season meetings with the Blue Raiders in 2016. On March 29, the Grenadiers scored two runs in the top of the eighth inning to defeat Lindsey Wilson 3-2.
On April 5, IU Southeast scored three unanswered runs in the eighth and ninth innings to rally from a 4-2 deficit to claim a 5-4 win.
Lindsey Wilson (37-22) is making its fourth-straight appearance in the NAIA Opening Round. The Blue Raiders and Grenadiers both earned at-large bids to the tournament.
Scouting the Blue Raiders
- Scott Sebald ranks No. 31 in the NAIA with nine wins. He led the Mid-South Conference with 102 strikeouts.
- Aaron Ashton, a MSC All-Conference selection, leads the Blue Raiders with 55 RBI.
- Edgar Lebron led the MSC with 68 hits.
Scouting the Grenadiers
- IU Southeast, making its third appearance in the NAIA Opening Rd, ranks No. 23 in the NAIA with 19 triples
- Ranks No. 27 with a 3.59 ERA
- Jarrod Messex ranks No. 11 with nine saves.
- Trent Simpson ranks No. 15 with a .429 batting average
