SHAWNEE, Okla. – The IU Southeast softball team saw its season end with an 8-2 to loss to Park University on Tuesday.
The Grenadiers (33-19) were able to put runners in scoring position in six of the seven innings but were unable to capitalize on their chances.
Emily Weiss and Sydney Seger each hit solo home runs to left in the fifth inning to cut the Park lead to 3-2, but the Pirates responded with a four-run bottom of the inning.
The Grenadiers loaded the bases in the top of the sixth but could not score and that sealed the game for the Pirates.
Emily Weiss took the loss. She worked 5 2/3 and gave up seven runs on 13 hits. She walked three and struck out on.
Hannah Veit and Weiss each had two hits in the loss.
The Grenadiers advanced to the final in the losers bracket after defeating No. 18 Arizona Christian 9-6.
Sydney Seger went 4-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles and Brooke Barnett went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs scored.
