Midway (Ky.) wins RSC Women's Golf Fall Preview Tournament
FINAL RESULTS
UNION, Ky. -- Midway (Ky.) University won the team title at the River States Conference Women's Golf Fall Preview Tournament held Monday and Tuesday at Lassing Pointe Golf Course in Union, Ky.
The Eagles are the defending conference champions from last spring, and they picked up where they left off last year. The RSC Fall Preview is a prelude to the conference championship tournament to be held this coming spring.
Midway opened up a nine-shot lead over second-place finishing IU East after the first 18 holes of the 54-hole tournament. That lead was down to a single shot after 36 holes. But Midway put together the round of the tournament in the final round, a team score of 323, to win the title by 28 shots.
Midway's Kathryn Lawler won the individual medalist honor with a 54-hole score of 239. She was the only player with two rounds in the 70s and shot scores of 78-85-76.
IU East, which was second with a final team score of 1,022, had Bre Nowak place second overall at 243, four shots back of Lawler. Nowak shot 80-75-88 with the middle round being the lowest of the tournament. The Red Wolves had Lexie Shields place third overall at 245 (84-81-80).
Asbury placed third in the team standings led by Madison Farr in fourth place at 249 (87-83-79). Brescia placed fourth followed by IU Kokomo in fifth, Point Park in sixth and Carlow in seventh. A total of eight RSC women's golf teams were represented with OCU having individual player Jessie Dodson.

The RSC Women's Golf Championship Tournament will be held April 24-25, 2017 at the same site, Lassing Pointe GC in Union, Ky. The team champion and individual medalist will quality for the NAIA Women's Golf National Championship May 23-26 at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
