Midway's Tonge wins RSC Women's Basketball Player of the Week Jan. 2-8
FLORENCE, Ky. -- Midway (Ky.) University forward Patrice Tonge averaged a double-double in two road wins last week to win River States Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week Jan. 2-8.
A 5-8 junior from Lebanon, Ky., Tonge averaged 18.0 ppg, 10.5 ppg and 4.5 apg as the Eagles went 2-0 on a road trip to Point Park and Carlow last Friday and Saturday. She shot 67 percent from the field (14 for 21) and was 2 for 5 from 3-point range on the week.
Tonge put up 22 points, 14 rebounds and four assists in a 76-53 win at Point Park on Friday. She followed that up with 14 points, nine rebounds and five assists in a 75-68 victory at Carlow on Saturday.
Tonge, a transfer from St. Catharine (Ky.), is averaging 7.9 ppg and 7.3 rpg for the year. She has started all 18 games for the Eagles, who are 13-5 overall, 4-2 RSC and have their next game Jan. 10 at Asbury.
