Ohio Christian's Hoover corrals RSC Men's Basketball Player of the Week Jan. 9-15

FLORENCE, Ky. -- Ohio Christian University senior Gary Hoover registered three double-doubles in three games last week to claim River States Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors for Jan. 9-15.

A 6-5 forward from Columbus, Ohio, Hoover's performance led the Trailblazers to a 3-0 record on the week, including a pair of conference victories. He averaged 15.7 points, 13.0 rebounds and 2.3 steals per game while shooting 69 percent (23 for 33) from the field.

Hoover started out with 18 points, 10 rebounds and three steals in a 149-59 win over Wright State-Lake. He then had 16 points, 16 rebounds and three steals in an RSC win over Carlow, 97-78. Hoover capped off his week with 13 points and 13 rebounds on 6 for 6 shooting in a 128-72 win over Point Park.

Hoover is averaging 13.1 ppg, second on the OCU team. His big week had him take over the RSC rebounding lead at 9.7 rpg. He is shooting 62 percent on the year, also tops in the conference. Ohio Christian has won five in a row and hosts Cincinnati Christian for its next game Jan. 17.
