Rio Grande's Marcum reaches 1,000-career points milestone

RIO GRANDE, Ohio - University of Rio Grande senior forward Brooke Marcum recently became the 27th member of the school's women's basketball 1,000-point club.
The milestone bucket came in the opening quarter of a win over Brescia on Jan. 6 at the Newt Oliver Arena.
Marcum was honored in pre-game ceremonies prior to the RedStorm's game against Indiana Southeast the following day.
The Vinton, Ohio native is also about to become the third member of the program's 1,000-rebound club. She currently ranks third on the all-time list with 970 rebounds, trailing only Alkia Fountain (1,196) and Karley Mohler (1,110).
Fountain and Mohler are also the only two players in program history with at least 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.
