#21 IU East wins #RSCgotw WBB over IU Kokomo, stays unbeaten in conference

RICHMOND, Ind. – The Indiana University East women's basketball team remained perfect in conference play and at home on Lingle Court with a victory against in-state rival Indiana University Kokomo, 79-66 on Jan. 17 in the River States Conference Women's Basketball Game of the Week on Tuesday night.

The No. 21 Red Wolves improved to 17-4 overall and 8-0 in the conference. The Cougars drop to 14-7 and 7-2 in the league. Both IU East and IU Kokomo maintain their top spots in the East and West divisions, respectively, in the River States Conference.

KEY MOMENTS

* The Red Wolves used a 13-2 run late in the second quarter to break open a back-and-forth first half. Bailey Dreiman and Kristen Miller combined for all of the points scored during the run.

* IU East took command and never looked back after opening up the third quarter on another 10-1 run that spanned the first three minutes of the second half. Tia King contributed with six points during the run.

SIGNIFICANT STATS

* IU East scored 20 points off of Cougar turnovers.

* IU East shot 42 percent from behind the arc and held IU Kokomo to just 18 percent.

* Miller scored a team-high 22 points. Dreiman collected a double double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.

* The Cougars were led by Deja Felder with a game-high 29 points. Whitney Williamson contributed 14 points.

* IU East outscored the IU Kokomo bench 18-7.

UP NEXT

IU East will continue its homestand with another conference game, this one against Cincinnati Christian University on Jan. 21 at 1 p.m. on Lingle Court. IU Kokomo has its next game at Ohio Christian on Saturday.
