CIRCLEVILLE, Ohio -- Ohio Christian University picked up a big win on Saturday, 65-53, over visiting Midway University in the River States Conference Women's Basketball Game of the Week.

It was a matchup of teams in second place in their respective divisions with Ohio Christian in the RSC East Division and Midway in the RSC West. Ohio Christian came out on top of the key matchup.

Ohio Christian had a strong first half building a 10-point lead of 24-14 after the first quarter. The Trailblazers built on that to lead by 13 points, 35-22, at the half.

OCU continued to push the lead and had it up to 18 points after hitting a couple of 3-pointers midway through the third quarter.

Midway made a comeback, however, and cut the lead in half. The Eagles were within nine points with two minutes left in the fourth. But the deficit of 15 points after three quarters was too big for Midway to overcome, despite the fact that the Eagles put up 19 points in the fourth.

Ohio Christian placed four starters in double figures led by Paige Lewis with 16 and Shawntell Parsons with 13. Those two combined to make five treys.

Rachel Carter had a team-high 12 points and eight rebounds for Midway. The Eagles were held to 34-percent shooting and committed 19 turnovers compared to just 10 for OCU.

Ohio Christian improved its record to 17-7 overall and held on to second place in the RSC East at 8-4. Midway is now 16-8 overall, 7-5 RSC and despite the loss is still in second place in the RSC West.
