IU Southeast's Stanton brings home RSC Men's Basketball Player of the Week Jan. 23-29
FLORENCE, Ky. -- IU Southeast guard Demetrius Stanton had two huge games to claim River States Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for Jan. 23-29.
A 6-0 junior from Louisville, Ky., Stanton averaged 29.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game in two victories on the week. He shot 50 percent from the field (18 for 36) and 44 percent from 3-point range (8 for 18). He also made 15 of 17 free throws for 88.2 percent.
Those averages came after 29 points, six rebounds and six assists in a win at Ohio Christian and then 30 points, three rebounds and four assists in a big win over No. 7 IU East. He made four treys in each game. For the year, Stanton is averaging 14.6 ppg, 4.2 apg and shooting 44 percent from the field.
IU Southeast is 17-4 overall, 11-1 RSC and ranked just outside the NAIA Division II Top 25 in the "receiving votes" category at No. 26 overall. The Grenadiers next play at home Jan. 31 versus IU Kokomo.
