Point Park's Davis wins RSC Indoor Field Athlete of the Week with NAIA qualification
FLORENCE, Ky. -- Point Park University triple jumper Jryi Davis qualified for the NAIA indoor national championship to pick up River States Conference Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for Jan. 23-29.
A junior from Bangor, Pa., hit the NAIA "A" standard with a leap of 14.29 meters in the triple jump at the SPIRE Midwest Open Jan. 28 at the SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio. He surpassed the NAIA standard of 14.18 and is now ranked fourth in the nation in the event.
Now a two-time NAIA indoor national qualifier in the triple jump, Davis won the event at SPIRE. He also competed in the long jump there with a jump of 6.06 meters to place 19th. The Pioneers compete this coming weekend at the Mt. Union Jim Wuske Invitational.
