Day 1 Recap -- IU East claims lead after 18 holes at RSC Women's Golf Fall Preview
RESULTS
UNION, Ky. -- The River States Conference Women's Golf Fall Preview Tournament got underway Monday from Lassing Pointe Golf Course with 27 holes played on the first day of the two-day tournament. IU East got out to the lead after 18 holes by five shots over Midway University.
IU East shot a team score of 331 over the first 18 holes, which was in first place over Midway with a 336. Asbury University was in third place at 339 followed by IU Kokomo with a 349.
In all, six of the 10 RSC women's golf teams are attendance for what is a preview of the RSC championship in the spring. The second and final day of competition will be Tuesday with the back nine holes of the second round and a final round of 18 holes following that.
Midway's Kathryn Lawler, who is competing in the tournament as an individual, led all players with a 4-over 75 in the first round. Hannah McCrabb of Asbury shot a 78 for second place after 18 holes. There were five players who broke 80 in the first round with Breanna Nowak (IU East), Hanna Scroggins (Midway) and Chelsea Schack (Midway) tied for third with 79s.
