IU Kokomo's Baker earns RSC Volleyball Attacker of the Week award
NEW ALBANY, Ind. -- IU Kokomo freshman Nyssa Baker took home MVP honors at the Indiana Tech Tournament and earned River States Conference Volleyball Attacker of the Week for Oct. 9-15.
Baker, a 6-0 middle hitter from Fort Wayne, Ind., totaled 42 kills, 17 digs and 28 blocks in her hometown. She averaged 2.63 kills, 1.06 digs and 1.75 blocks per set in 16 sets. The Cougars went 4-0 on the weekend to win the tournament.
Highlights for Baker included 10 kills, 10 digs and seven blocks in a win over Lawrence Tech and 15 kills and 11 blocks in a win over Huntington (Ind.). She had nine kills and six blocks versus Shawnee State and eight kills and four blocks versus Indiana Tech.
IU Kokomo is 19-8 overall, 7-0 RSC and takes its 13-match win streak into Tuesday's match with Cincinnati Christian.
