IU East's Mitchell claims RSC Volleyball Setter of the Week
NEW ALBANY, Ind. -- IU East freshman Danielle Mitchell led her team to the RSC East Division title to claim River States Conference Volleyball Setter of the Week for Oct. 23-30. It is the second time this year's she's earned the honor.
Mitchell, a 5-9 native of Kalamazoo, Mich., totaled 104 assists and averaged 9.45 assists per set in three RSC wins for the Red Wolves. She also totaled 24 digs on the week for an average of 2.18 digs per set. Victories of 3-0 over Rio Grande, 3-2 at Point Park and 3-0 at Carlow helped IU East clinch the division with a week to go.
She had 38 assists and nine digs versus Rio Grande and then 37 assists, seven digs and two kills in the clinching win at Point Park. She finished up with 29 assists and eight digs at Carlow, a sweep.
IU East is 17-17 overall, 11-4 RSC and host Ohio Christian on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
